There were only 4 dates for the 255 carb.Three of them in 1969,and one in 1970.I'll trade my 3329 for the 70 date.Otherwise,it's staying here.My car was built May 27th,1970.This one's too early, but better than ntothing at all.

Stickw31 may know something about that particular carb that sold on ebay. I have no comment on that carb that was on ebay. However, there were only 4 production runs on that carb that is known.

I really don't want to sell it. You must also realize that the main body of the 255 carb is different than your average 350 or 455 carb body. I didn't see the one that was recently on ebay, but if was truly a legit carb, that was a steal at $750.00.They usually sell for double that.

There is a REAL 255 for sale up in Michigan, dated 2709,and it is in real nice original condition.$1800.00 will get it.I'd go get that,if you are still looking. That is also the exact one that would have come on your december/69-built car.The next date is in November, which is too close to the date of your car.

OK Brian, 2709 is that the 270th day of 1969? I can't figure what else it could be.

Yes,the 270th day of 1969,which would be the last week of September. The next date that they made them wasn't until the last week of November,1969,and if his car was built in decemember,it's too close.By the time it was made, shipped, and installed,I don't think the November carb would make it on a December car.I think the 2709 is what actually came on his car originally.

Yes Joe,you are correct.I had one of those, and it came out of Texas.
from what I have researched, owned & witnessed, there are 5 dates for the 255. The first week of August, two in November, one is december, and the last one in March/April.I need the last one,and I am curious to know if they ever switched body casting numbers to try to improve idle quality, and they also started making another casting in 70,for 71,so just curious if the last one was still the same as the others. That's the only one I haven't had,and it's the one I need.I have successfully moved down the date ladder, but the December carb is still too early to my May 27th car.
from my experience, the 2709 and the 3329 are the ones I have seen the most of.
I was just standing across from that plant last saturday.

Randy's carb is in very nice condition, and it is the same date as the one on ebay, but not the same actual carb. The ebay carb had a buy-it-now for $750.00,so naturally, someone grabbed it.On the other hand, that same seller listed an original balancer, full of hammer marks, for $1200.00,but no bites. He should have switched the prices on the parts, and they would both be gone.

I don't have a 70 calendar, but it is the very beginning of April.I'd be interested in knowing if they changed casting numbers for that one,as I am guessing they did,but since I have never had the last production date in my hand,it is only a guess. The one in michigan looks like it has better coloring,or more of the original coloring left, compared to the one from ebay, but maybe it is the difference in pictures.
