Looking for a good rearview mirror with the maplight for a 70 cutlass.

if you are not in a hurry i could set you up with a good one. i have one that the glass is bad but the light works and another one that the glass is good but the light is dry rotted and fell out. i should be able to make a good one from the two. i have several parts i need to pull so it would be a week till i could get to it. i could do $50 shipped. if someone else has one feel free to step in and sell him one.

Jensen Have you had luck taking the glass out of one and putting it in another?

 

after cleaning it up it is only in driver condition. the mirror has 2 spots on the left side, you can see the spots in the picture. the ball that the mirror pivots on is a little rusty but it pivots good. i changed over the light and it works good. if you want to wait for someone else to respond i understand. i would think there would be a little better one out there if you need one for a great show car.

Other than heat and patience any other tricks? And I have three. One chrome one on my supreme. one black plastic one w/maplight on my S. and one I picked up at a salvage yard off a 72 supreme that's black metal w/maplight. Are these probably not stock?

 

nope that's what I did, used very hot water and a hair dryer, was afraid to use a heat gun

 

i have not tried it but i have heard of others doing it. i am told that someone is making reproduction glass for them but i have not looked. i did just notice that i put the bracket on backwards on this one, lol. i will fix that

 

you can even have a glass shop cut a new piece for next to nothing but it won't be beveled so the night switch won't work - if you car. But the re-silvering place here in Chicago (Dolton) was like 30 bucks or so including shipping it back to you

Can anyone explain the difference with this glass compared to the glass in a new mirror? They both have the day/night feature.

 

all I know is the way the old mirror works is that the glass is beveled, much thicker on one end than the other.
