70-72 tilt column part

Hello,

Well I am now on the hunt for a shifter tube for my column shift tilt column for my 72 Cutlass Supreme. I just had Sparky plate all the parts for my column rebuild but thanks to UPS the shifter tube took a direct hit during shipping and it showed up bent. If anyone has any pieces lying around please let me know.

Thanks,
Dave

Seems to me that if UPS damaged it, they should be responsible for replacing/fixing it. Either that or joint responsibility from the shipper - if it was packed properly that shouldn't have happened.

It was packed very well but this box showed up just plain destroyed. I need to locate a replacement as soon as possible so I can keep this project rolling but we will be filing a claim tomorrow with UPS.

They damaged one of my tilts years ago,and it took 3 months to get compensated for it.LuckilyI had it packed well, and they had no excuse as to why it got damaged.I did have to give it up to UPS when they compensated me.If you took yours and mine, you could make one. They crushed the upper half.

Unfortunately no. When UPS issues me a check,I had to send the column to them. It was fully restored, and I really could have salvaged it. They probably pitched it.

I've got a couple non-tilt columns in pieces, but found the tube is 28 inches long on those.

I do have a column shift tilt with an ear broken off, so that the steering wheel flops side to side. I'd planned to take it apart and fix it some day... but if your not finding the piece you need I'd sell this one for parts.

I'll dig it out and take some pictures for you. I'll also send you a PM with my email address to make it easier to discuss this.

John

I have the part but it measures 27".....25" you show seems a lil short since
the overall length of the column is 34-34.5".....email me direct
