68 442 drivers side bucket seat
The 1966 and older are easy to swap back and forth as they didn't have a button or lever to tilt the seatback forward. So are the 1969-72 as the seat release button is in the center of the back. But yeah, the 1967-68 have a button on the side. If your going to rebuild your seats you could swap the rails and seatback. But then your getting pretty close to swapping the whole seat. It may be tough to find a single as most people want to sell seats as a pair. If you need to reach out to more than your part of the country I've shipped bucket seats through greyhound bus lines for a reasonable cost. I unbolt the seat back from the bottom, unbolt the adjusting rails, stack in the pieces and it will fit in one large box. John
The ‘68 Strato seats AND release mechanisms are mirror imaged from left to right. They are not the same. They are two different sets of parts that do not interchange from left to right. I had the same problem in my ‘68 when I bought it from the 3rd owner/flipper. I bought a replacement Dynacorn DRIVER seat frame and springs and installed a release mechanism that came on a trashed Driver side OEM frame that I had bought years prior from a user on the old 442.com website. The release mechanism that was on the Passenger seat that was incorrectly installed on the Driver side does not fit on the correct Driver seat frame.
