67 Olds 98 HVAC control panel

I need to replace my heat and air control panel for my 67. Does anybody have one, please?

One from any 1967 88 or Ninety Eight will work, but need to know if it's standard A/C or Comfortron.

Thanks for the reply. How do I tell if it's standard or Comforton?

Standard A/C will have pushbuttons to select positions, fan switch and a temperature lever.

Comfortron has a lever to select positions and a temperature dial, and it controls fan speed automatically. Also spells out "COMFORTRON" on the face.

Ah. Well then I have standard. It's my push buttons that are the problem. AC and Recip won't stay in when pushed. Thank you again for your reply

This one is from a '65 Delta, probably not the same as yours?

It's pretty darn close oldspackrat! It looks like it attaches differently with that tab on the side. Mine has 2 on top. Mine also doesn't have any black on it except for the lettering. I have a slider on the left for Hi to Lo, But, maybe the part that is missing or broken on mine could be taken off that one and used to fix mine.

They're different. One from a 1968 car might work.

There's been a couple threads about these things lately. I suspect yours is probably just dirty. If you can get it out the dash (sounds like it may already be), take a can of computer duster and clean the cobwebs etc off it, then lightly spray all the linkages and springs with WD40. My guess is the buttons will start latching properly. Good luck.

I saw that thread and tried to tell my mechanic that. Long story short, I had to have my motor rebuilt. I also needed a new AC line and they totally converted my system over to the new coolant. Then they call me and tell me that the AC works great, but the button won't stay in. I told them to use forced air and some WD40. Then he said that it is something that is mechanical that is missing or broken that allows it to stay in. Then he gave me my car back, with no brakes I might add, and also a scratch on my fresh paint job where it looks like someone lost control of the hood. Sorry, I got off track. Any way, I don't know what to do. Some little part is disconnected on the back and "the screws are in the ash tray." Yes, that is how a professional mechanic sends me out of his garage. No brakes, some plastic and metal electrode looking thingy hanging down from my dash, and screws in the ash tray. As of right now, my only 2 options are to pray someone has one that works and replace it, or remove it (somehow) and take it to an old mechanical wizard here in town and see if he can fix it. Either way, I don't know what I am doing, and the local professionals seem to fix one problem and create 2 or 3 others.

A big question I have is can I just remove the control panel or do I have to disassemble the entire dash to get it out?

You are the winner! That's it!
Does it work and what do you want for it?

I cannot answer if it works, but I will certainly recheck all the movements, and take more pics for you.

All the pushbuttons move smooth, actuate & lock out when pushed, when you select another, the previous resets. temp control arm moves. The blower switch isn't showing continuity. I will investigate, and reply. Or do you even want the blower speed switch?

Removed blower switch, disassembled and cleaned all contacts and lubed pivot & slide. Works fine, good continuity on all speed settings.

Looks good Brett!
I'll try to attach a pic of mine. I don't think I can do it from my phone.
Thanks!
