'67 Cutlass/4-4-2 : Collar for Tilt Floor Shift Steering Column

I have a tilt column shift steering column I need to convert to floor shift tilt column.
I know it's probably a long shot, but, need the collar for the floor shift to replace the column shift collar.
If I can't find one, I will have to remove the column shift handle,
grind down the boss where the handle was mounted and refinish it smooth.
Anyone have a column for parts?

Does it have to be from a tilt column?

I have some junk non tilts, and a 68 Toro wheel and column that does everything under the sun...I think it tilts, telescopes, and makes you dinner; if either of those would help.

Yes, Don.
The non-tilt collar is about 3-7/8" long
The tilt column collar is about 3-1/8".
It's shorter to make room for the tilt lever on the section closest to the wheel.
The section closest to the wheel is longer to make room for the tilt lever just below the turn signal lever.

Hey, John.
Don't think the non-tilt collar will work as I mentioned to Don above.
Not that familiar with the Toro parts. The collar might be the same.
Hate to buy and tear apart a good column for one part.
In case I can't find a collar, what's your price on the Toro column if I can confirm I can use it?
Might be worthwhile just for the "making me dinner" part.

I think I paid fifty bucks for it out of a Hebron KY junkyard 10 years ago. It's yours for that and the shipping; I've got no use for it.

It's in the rafters of my great aunt's house up in Terre Haute, so I can grab it on one of my frequent trips up there.

John,
Can't beat the price if I can just confirm the collar will fit my column.
I'm betting it will work.
Problem is I don't even know anyone who owns a '68 Toronado to use s a guide.
Give me a few days to see what I can find out.
I may take a chance and take it anyhow.
Can you give me a shipping cost to 25314?
(Don't really need the wheel.)

Call Chuck @ Parts Finders 262-677-0477 and tell him I referred you. He's an absolute steering column guru and can either tell you if the Toro collar will work or he can probably help you with the part you need.

I know there is a difference in length of tilt versus non tilt, but if you are starting with the tilt column complete in the beginning, just saw off the nub and either have a piece tig welded into it or fill it with epoxy and smooth it down. I have converted three 67 tilts that way. If you don't know it was column shift in the beginning, you can't tell.

Thanks, Mike.
That's exactly what I needed, someone who knows.
I'll definitely give Chuck a call.

Thanks, Ed.
As I mentioned in my original post, that is what I plan to do, but, only as a last resort.
Hopefully, I can find the collar I need so I won't have to butcher a good part.

Upon looking in the rafters today at it, 68 Toro column is totally incompatible with this use.

Yeah, I talked with Chuck, the guy Mike Richards recommended.
Very helpful and nice guy.
He said the Toro column was totally different.
Thanks for checking.
