67-69 manual console light and harness

Wondered why my 4 speed console rear light never worked. pulled the console and there is no bulb, socket, or wiring.
Anybody able to assist, that would be great.
Pictures of what I need would be beneficial as well.
Thank You,
Mike

I think you can buy new ones from Lectric Limited, M&H, American Auto Wire. These 3 are all good. There may also be a console extension harness that goes with it, not sure. Lectric Limited has a good site you can scroll through all the harnesses for your ride. The console harness is not too expensive as i recall. I have ordered numerous harnesses from them for my Olds and several for my Vette. All very nice, plug and play. Also one dash harness from M&H for my Vette. Also very nice.

They did not come with one originally on the manual trans., my lens was painted black, no socket, no bulb or wiring.

That is what mine had, a painted black lens.
I had this great idea, that it was missing the wiring harness and bulb, and I was going to correct it.

Just bought lens (white) from Fusick.
So now I wonder if I should stick with the blacked lens, if that was the way it was intended?

Question is why would they creat console with a light lens, and not install it. Very strange.

X2 on not coming w lights in the back. Have seen where people add the repro automatic wiring to have a light but again not factory.

Another mystery, were all the lens blacked out? Seen black consoles were lenses are blacked out and not . However never seen non black 64-69 manual consoles where the lenses were blacked out but rather they were clear.

My guess...faster on the assy. line, just slap in a painted lense to fill the hole, rather that producing two consoles, one with a hole for the light, and one without a hole. One part number, just build per the build sheet, light, socket, and wiring for auto trans., a black painted lens for manual. I would think that a white console would get an opaque lens.

My guess is convertibles don't have sail panel lights so they used the console light on convertibles to light the rear seat area.Like i said just a guess
