55 Olds front end trim

I'm restoring A 55' SUPER 88. I need the "y" shaped trim on the drivers side that wraps around the drivers quarter behind the front bumper. I could also use the hood trim. The ones I have were too rusty on the reverse sides so when the plater stripped them there was rust thru. If I'm correct the part numbers should be 8.147 for the bumper trim and 8.054 for the lip at the bottom of the hood. I had my old email listed so hopefully I'll hear from some of you with some leads or other advise, thanks !

Well, unfortunately, every '55 owner needs these parts. Occassionally they are on ebay but for a lot of money - if they ones you have are remotely salvageable, you should save them. Rust through can be fixed but it's expensive. One way or the other you're going to spend well over $1000 on the hood lip and the two fender extensions. It's just part of owning a '55.

I wish you luck - you could beat the odds

X2 what Olds Dad said. when I found a new hood to replace my tacoed damaged one I must of had a half a dozen PM's from people wanting a extra hood lip if I ended up with one. Some chrome shops will tackle severely damaged parts, check around freight on that light of a piece wouldn't be that much if you had to ship out of state....Tedd

Thanks guys, what is sad is that the pieces were straight with not a ding nor scratch, just losing the shine. There was some rust on the reverse sides but the holes didn't appear until they were dipped by the plater. I've been to one welder who said he couldn't make it right, so I'll keep searching.

Google americancarrestoparts.com. They have recent information that they have acquired 2 '55 Olds parts cars and there's a picture of one that shows hood lip moulding and left fender extension moulding. Good luck. They are in Colorado. Larry
