55 olds 88 roof brace needed

Anyone parting a 54-56 olds 88 that has a solid roof area? I pulled the headliner down on my 55 88 sedan project and the mice had nested up in the metal clamshell that runs across between the A-pillars. The mirror and sunvisors mount to it.

It's all rotted.

The roof skin and window channels are perfect.

Don't know for sure if this part is the same for sedan, Holiday or 4-door?

Thanks!

Joe

Gordon,

Thanks for the reply. I did some interchange research and it looks like the part I need will have come from a 2dr or 4dr sedan.

I have no experience with the 4dr so I'm not sure about how the "B" pillar is welded. I'm in for some work replacing this front section based on what I see.

My hope is to just have someone cut the front 8 inches of the roof off with about an inch of the "A" pillars. This way I can figure it out in my garage .

Is the parts car you are going after a sedan?

Thanks again!

Joe,
I know exactly how you feel. The same thing damage was done by mice on my 56 Ninety Eight Holiday I'm working on. Must be a favorite nesting spot or something. (see photo)
Can I ask where you did your interchange research. I have the 56 Holiday 98 and I have a 56 98 4dr sedan. I would like to find out if some of the parts can be interchanged.

Bret,

Damage looks familiar. Mine's not quite as bad along the side rail areas. The worst on mine is towards the middle.

I picked up a PDF based interchange manual CD on Evilbay pretty cheap.

If you just need a couple things looked up, let me know.

From what I've seen with the 88's the sedans kinda go together body part wise. And the Holidays interchange.

Bret,

For your roof, the manual says you have to stick with the 2 dr H.T. for interchange, but you can also get parts from a 54-56 Buick Special and Century 2dr H.T.

Hope that helps.
