Talking '54

Hi all,

54 Super 88. Any one have a diagram (or parts) for a 54' steering column? Horn is not working and looks like the previous owner had taken the steering column apart and left some parts out during re-assembly.

Thanks,
John

Power Steering or non-power? These columns were integrated into the steering box. If you want a replacement column you'll need to do the whole assembly.

Hey,

Thanks for the quick responce. It's power steering. I'm not really looking to replace the whole steering column. Just looking for some of the internal horn parts.

OK, if it turns out your needing horn parts associated with the steering wheel check out this thread. It's step by step taking the wheel apart from a 1955. I think 1954 should be similar. If its deeper in the column someone else will have to speak up with photo/diagram of those parts. John

Fusick sells a reproduced horn rubber cushion for the deluxe wheel, but that's all.

The salvage yards usually want to sell the entire column. There's a complete green one with wheel at Albert's Used Auto Parts in Thomaston, CT but he wants $425 for the whole thing. There "was" one also in the eastern end of New Orleans. It might be cheaper, but I don't know the name of the yard and he probably doesn't ship.
