455 A/C compressor brackets

Hey guys,

Looking for a set of brackets that fit up the old a/c compressor on to an olds 455 engine, on the passenger side of the engine.

Found I am missing the front bracket that has two bolts that go into the front of the head on the passenger side. As well as a lower bracket that comes up and supports the rear.

Also looking for a crank and water pump pulley. I have a 6" water pump and the existing pulley doesn't line up for the a/c compressor, it isn't deep enough. Had a mechanic say that the measurement from the timing chain cover to the end of the shaft of the water pump is the key one needs - That measurement is 6" on the new water pump.

any help would be great!

Here are the AC brackets, they are heavy & shipping will probably be $20.00-$30.00?? How about $70.00 total shipped for both of them?

What are those off of? My application would be for a 76 cutlass.

I don't think the heater hose bracket is still with them though.

I was able to source the brackets, had to get a new manifold for the compressor as well.

I believe I have a set of the first brackets posted by oldspackrat if they are cast iron. But I'm fairly sure they came off of the 350 engine and will not fit the 455. However, I removed the a/c when I installed the 455 so I may be mistaken. I could do a test fit as I still have the 455 even though the car is gone.
My bracket set is powder coated.

I also have a three groove pulley set off of my 455. Also powder coated (but used and have some wear) if anyone is interested. Can take some pics if requested.

350 and 455 are the same for any given year/style (cast iron/stamped steel)

Good to know the cast iron a/c brackets (pass side) will fit both engines. Thanks for the info Rocketman.

If any body missed out on this set, I have another set, powdercoated and available as well as the three groove pulley set. Sorry for hijacking the thread

Ok folks, I received the parts from Classic Auto Olds. Two brackets - one I already have that I transferred from the 350,the main bracket that suspends compressor.

What he sent me for the bracke, that bolts to the passenger head and acts as the tighten point when ya pivot the compressor against the belt doesn't seem to match...

Does anyone have an olds, w/ 455, w/ passenger side a/c mounted, where you can take a good pic showing that bracket that bolts on the front of the head that locks the compressor tight...
The above pics from crazyboutolds does not show the bracket. Has that single bar...

hey guys

Here is the compressor suspended from main bracket.

Is that missing bracket cast steel as an above fellow posted pics of, or a stamped steel?

Took these pics during my resto of my '71 vert. It's a 350 and has the cast iron brackets. I believe you can see the cross member (stamped steel) you are missing that is bolted to a water pump stud/bolt and the bottom of the a/c compressor. You can see it clearly in the third picture.

If these brackets are in fact swappable between big and small block, perhaps this will help?
Good luck.

Thank you Crazybout olds ! That definitely cleared things up on how it fits together. I received the right front bracket from classic olds LLC to match with the other large bracket.

442Koneklir that looks to be a good setup that oldspackrat shared pics of top of thread.

Should be enough to get the a/c going now. Re plumb in the vac resevoir on the passenger wheel well and look for a dash pot for the idle throttle once I get the car back.
