425 engine
My 16 year old son and I are working on a 58 Olds for him. It came with the original 371 V8, but since we have to rebuild something anyway....we are looking to drop in a 425. Yes....we could have jumped to the 455, but then his car would be like 90% of the Cutlass crowd at the car show.
By using the "inexpensive" and often overlooked 425.....he ends up with a vintage hot rod. The 425 and turbo 400 combo were the hot ticket for the 50's Olds when the big block olds started finding their way to the junk yard in the late 60's.
Anyway, we are in St. Louis, if anyone has a motor and is in driving distance. We are trying to find a complete set up with brackets, fan, everything, so it will be a period corect set up. I bought one already for only $75, but minus all the brackets, motor mounts, generator, etc.
thanks
