1983 hurst olds front grills
Unfortunately, there are no aftermarket replacements for 1982 through 1985, and NOS is super-rare to find. 81 and 86 do have aftermarket replacements (they used the same grille). So, your choice is to be on the constant hunt for an 83 grille, or temporarily use 81/86 aftermarket replacements (use the black 86 GK47 versions) to fill the hole in the meantime. The 81/86 grilles mount the same as the 83 in that one corner of them doesn't have a standoff peg. A screw goes through the front and the flat spring needs a J-nut installed for the mounting screw to go into. 84 and 85 are different.
That flat spring is way too strong for most McGyver attempts on grille stud repair on those G-bodies. Because of the nature of the spring, the grille is under constant tension and puts pressure against the fascia to keep the grille from flopping. The plastic attachment points are gusseted with molded plastic supports, but eventually they tend to give out. Terrible design, but it was the 80s after all. Weren't designed to last 40+ years.
Did you even check ebay?
You didn't say which side you needed, but I saw there is currently a pair of NOS 83 Cutlass grilles on ebay at the moment, and a used passenger side. Dig deep for the NOS pair, they're asking 1300 for the pair. All you have to do is paint them to match your H/O. Sorry, rare and desireable parts cost money, doesn't matter which generation you're working on. Whether you think its worth it is a personal opinion.
