Unhappy 1980 Delta LH grille

Some people!!!! Just got home and some piece of work threw a 5" boulder through the front grille of my pristine 1980 Delta Holiday 88 coupe parked in front of my house. This car was inherited from my uncle. He was the original owner and the car is near mint. Man, am I choked, Why do people have to do this ****. Almost makes a grown man want to cry!!

Anyways, I am hoping someone out there can help. I need a NOS or near mint LH grille for a 1980 (1 year only) Olds Delta 88. GM part number is 22502235. Willing to pay top dollar to fix my car if need be.

Please, anyone???

Thanks Martie

My heart goes out to you! Some people just can't stand it when someone has something nice. If I was you, I wouldn't park that baby out front anymore. This is probably a sign of more vandalism to come. Hope I'm wrong. Have you checked with your neighbors to see if anyone saw anything?

Just a thought: The car is 31 years old which classifies it as 'vintage' or 'Antique'. Do you carry vintage car insurance?

I'll keep an eye out on the web for that part.

Thanks Allan.

I'm sure my insurance will cover the grille, if (and that appears to be a big if) I can find one.

Hopefully I can find one. The car deserves an NOS (very close) piece.

I was planning on posting some photos of this machine for you guys to see in May as I finally have some time off. Now, I'm embarrased to show it with a big hole in the grille.

Please someone in Olds land to the rescue!!!

Don't hold back on the photos just for the sake of a broken grill. There are soooo many great angles and shots that you can get of the car without having to show it's war injury.

Personally, I would feel the same way about what happened. If I lived closer I'd help you hunt down the coward. Then I'd suggest we take turns holding them while we let them feel the pain. Normally I'm not prone to violence, but something like this really burns me. It's like people don't have respect for other peoples property, or can't stand to see someone have something nice.

Glad your insurance will cover it. I'm sure there has to be something NOS or close that will turn up. One thing about this process that I'm sure you know.. it takes time to find the perfect part. I wouldn't feel bad about putting in a used 'ok' part until a good replacement is found. It will definitely look better than a trashed front grill.

That really sucks.

You can try eBay, but I actually picked one up at the REOlds Muesum back in 2006 for my Delta. I paid all of $2 for it

I don't have it now, it was on the car when it was totalled

J-Chicago - PM sent. Cheers!!

Redog- excuse my ignorance, where/what is the REOlds Museum?

Allan- I'm probably closer than you think - Lethbridge, Ab.. Glad to see another 'Albertan Redneck' on the Olds site. In some ways, I'm glad I didn't catch the punk! My two boys would probably only get to see there Dad from the other side of the steel bars !!!

Everyone else who cares - I remembered I do have some photos of the car just after Uncle A. turned it over to my care. Give me a day or so to figure out how to post pics, and I'll let you guys see what I am referring to.

Cheers

REOlds muesum is in LAnsing Michigan, mostly all the Oldsmobiles were made.

They had a huge "cleaning" house sale that year and I just happened to come across it. The one on my Delta, the frame was cracked. It's a cake to replace. I forget if it's 7mm or 10mm bolts holding it in place
