1977 Olds 350 Valve Covers (3A Smog) Needed
I am looking for valve covers and gaskets for a 1977 Olds 350 engine (3A Smog Heads). The mechanic said he was having a hard time locating parts because the engine heads are '3A Smog'. He tried the "normal" valve covers for a 1977 Olds 350, but the gaskets did not line up.
Does anyone know where I can find the valve covers and plastic valve cover gaskets for this engine? Or know of any alternatives?
Thank you
Wilbert

As far as I know, all second generation Olds V-8 valve covers are the same, with the exception that the later ones did not have all 10 bolt holes drilled. Also, all 1977-1980 350 engines used 3A "smog" heads, so the valve covers and gaskets would be identical.

Yup, all the common stuff fits just fine. Worst case there's 5 holes in the valve cover that you don't use.
We don't get fancy valve cover gaskets like the big names. Just plain rubber or cork. Felpro briefly made a plastic/silicone gasket but it's been long discontinued.
Some of the Olds specialists have their own unique gaskets. e.g., Rocket Racing has a thick rubber one with a metal core.

Find a "mechanic" who has a clue. The five bolt covers are the same on all the 1980s 307 motors. These later valve covers DO have a slightly lower profile than do the 1960s and early 70s covers. The valve cover gaskets are exactly the same from 1964-1990. There is only one part number. All of them have ten holes.
