They are not real louvers as you probably know - just an appearance trim and need to have the mounting brackets to be secured in place. The ones tru-blu shows are 100% authentic. Easy to tell because the factory painted the 'faux louvers' to match the body color. Only exception was for W29 cars, they were black. You could probably fabricate the missing pieces from scrap sheet metal. This detail is from the 1972 Assembly Manual

You still need to have the chrome parts show though. Something like this on your car would look fantastic. See I even found a pic of a bamboo colored car!
You can also see it in this period ad for the W29 442

I agree with you 100%, i'm really not a fan of the black stripes on a bamboo car. The white looks really sharp.
I'm slowly pricing out buying the decal set (stickers, not paint on) from parts place.

Tony - 2 things (besides us jacking this thread - sorry to OP)
1. Have you considered brown as in mocha stripes?
2. You have an AM for the car. Take it to a local striper and ask them for a quote - it might be faster and cheaper than buying stuff you have limited control over. The striper can also show you various shades that might match the interior of your car.
