1970 W30 / Auto Carburetor Needed

Hello Everyone,
I have spoken to a few of you, but now posting for help. About four/six weeks ago, I discovered my original carb was missing. I searched my entire shed as I have my engine apart, thus the reason for carb not being on the car. It had to be someone which had access to my backyard- gardner, pool service, pest control, I've questioned them all. All I got was a blank stare followed by, I know nothing. Needless to say the shed is now locked, everything else is accounted for, but the carb is the only thing missing. With that said, I'm feeling the loss and pain, so now I'm looking for a carburetor for my 70 W30 Auto P/N 7040258 with date code of 2809 (Tues, 10-07-69). Anyone have one or know the whereabouts, please let me know as it has to be 2809 D/C only!!!

man I feel you, sent my carb out years ago your way to the 'Carb Shop" they closed in the middle of the night. Not sure what happened to it and I could only imagine what other rare carbs "disappeared."

Be patient, one will show up - someone was nice enough to give me a decent deal. I still paid a fair price but a few folks came through with very reasonable offers.

I believe the odds of finding the correct carb with your exact same date are real slim to possibly non-existent. If you were to look for a carb that had a date on it within 3-4 months of the build date of your car, that should enhance your prospects if finding one.

It really stinks that someone would steal your carburetor. The same thing seemingly happened to me back in 2005 when the AM-FM radio for my '68 4-4-2 (that I was restoring at the time) turned up missing. I searched high and low for that radio for 2 years and couldn't find it. And then, one day when I was just about ready to buy a replacement radio, I happened by a shelf in my dad's garage, and there it was - my original radio! I put it in such a safe place where no one would get it, that even I couldn't remember where it was! Maybe the same thing will happen to you!

Best Regards,
Randy C.

Hello Randy,
I agree, finding one is going to be a difficult task, I guess I may have to settle for one with perhaps a wrong D/C, but does anyone have an original one for sale? I emptied the entire shed, no such luck locating mine. Patience can pay off as I located my original OAI hood earlier this year which was stolen off my car 19-years ago. Crazy unbelievable story....I had to buy it back as it had changed hands a few times, but it's now reunited back to the car it belongs and that's all that matters to me...
