1970 Oldsmobile Cutlass 8Trac Installation Template

Looking for the installation instructions and template for lower AC vent 8trac installation. Also looking for the rear bracket and grounding strap. If anyone has these available or knows where I can acquire them please let me know. Thank you.

I seem to recall instructions in the Assemby Manual. Do you have it for your year and model?

I could be wrong but it seems to me that the underside of the dash is dimpled or marked for the factory location. I might be wrong but...

The holes are already in the dash for the studs. Only the front screw holes need to be drilled once the 8-track housing is in place. What the OP is asking for is the template to cut out the lower A/C vent that runs along the bottom of the dash. Here is one I made when I installed mine. I think this is the final sized version ready to print on 11" x 17" paper, but I know I printed/ re-sized the image several times to get is to fit perfectly on my duct.

Here is the printed image cut out and glued to my duct as I was cutting it out:

I used a generic ground strap like this for mine (available on Amazon, eBay, etc). Just find one the right length.

For the rear brace, I used a piece of bar stock.
Hope this helps.

Thank you all for the help. I haven't had time to look if the cutouts are there. The template photos and part recommendations are very helpful. Got the grounding strap and am going to look at it this week. Thank you all again.

I have reproductions of the rear support brace available for $25 shipped usps inside the continental US as well as the braided ground straps $8 free usps shipping. Email me at w70442@hotmail.com if you're interested.
I also build the gauge and stereo housings that are based on the size and shape of the factory 8 track housing so I have a pic that I share with customers regarding how to cut down the long one piece vent to fit with an 8 track or one of my housings. Here ya go. Read the notes on the pic for tips/instructions. Also, keep in mind that the "holes" in the dash metal for the vent mounting screws are approximately 1/2" wide slots so you will have a little wiggle room if you cut one a little too big or small. I recommend having the 8 track installed when cutting/sanding the vent down so that you can test fit to match the contour of the side of the 8 track housing.

The under side of the dash isn't dimpled as far as I know but on the 69-72's, the two 3/8" diameter holes for the threaded studs on the 8 track mounting brackets are pre-punched in the channel that runs across the underside of the dash from the factory. I don't believe the holes are there from the factory on the 68's and possibly early 69's.

It's funny how crazy heavy those factory eight tracks are. My 69 Toronado had a factory eight track. Awesome sound. Especially for back then.
