Whatever is original, I am nearly 99.99% certain any original would have been a dealer installed aftermarket reservoir and not a factory ordered OEM original since I believe a coolant reservoir was neither standard nor an option.

 

I may have just shot myself in the foot, since I just saw this outdated thread. But I thought coolant reservoirs were not available for the 1970 model year.

I think you were correct the first time. They were a dealer installed GM part I believe. Not installed from the factory but still available on a new car installed by Oldsmobile.
