1969 or 70 ram air or 442 hood
1969 or 70 ram air or 442 hood
I would like a 1969 or 1970 ram air or 442 hood for my 1969 vista cruiser. The original hood is hail damaged, so a replacement is needed.
Let me know what you have, prefer southeast, but do travel some so let me know what you have.
Thanks
Ben

ram air hood
Hello,I am responding to your request for a ram air hood.I have an original 1970 ram air hood for sale.I am asking $2,500. The hood is in very good original condition. It does not appear to have any previous damage of any kind.I also have the locks and hold downs as well as the stainless trim that goes on the back edge of the hood.If interested, please let me know. Thanks,Tim e-mail at TAA442@aol.com
I've seen them put on 69s many times, not sure what was altered, probably just the front tooth
from what i was told from a guy that had one was that you have to cut the front metal frame section out of the OAI hood and weld in a 69 front section. i have no idea if that is right but i did see where Thornton offers the 70 top on a 69 bottom to put one on a 69.
Just try not to cut up an original hood but again if you have to cut up the core support that's kind of a bummer too, yet its your car. there is a 69 wagon around me with the hood on it - look great. if it was cruising weather I'd get photos for you, they were at many of the car shows - just don't know where they are from
Here is the requested pic of the hood latch in the core support. It was squared off ( the cutting job results really sucked! ), but the hood closes and locks fine. We installed the hood pin brackets on the core support the same way the 70 - 72 brackets are mounted.
thanks for the compliments on the car - it is a fun driver - 4 sp with 323 and a 70 442 455 in it.

Here is a front end comparison of 2 of my 69s.
My long time comment about the 70 hoods - sitting in the driver seat looking down the center of the hood is like looking down the shirt of a large breasted woman! PRICELESS!
Sorry if I have offended any one with that comment.

You could have those cuts welded and ground down. Then it would look better. Both of your cars look terrific, but I like the front end presentation of the silver vert the best!
Do you still have the hood for sail? And if so could you send some pictures to my email address zeak3000@yahoo.com thanks.
