1968 Oldsmobile 15” hubcaps

Looking for a good set of 1968 15” hubcaps for my Delta 88. They look like the attached photo. Thanks for the help.

Maybe. In looking at the parts catalog, it is a bit confusing. For most years, the 1970 parts book I down loaded off this site differentiates 14” and 15” wheel covers by models. However, for 1968, there is no information about wheel size and models.

There are three hubcaps that look almost identical:

P0-2, part# 399340 or 982895
P0-3, part# 398930 or 982896
N-95, part# 399462 or 983011

If I had to guess, I would say it is the N-95 that is the 15” version, but the P0-3 maybe as well. Again, there is nothing about wheel size listed.

To my knowledge the only 15" full wheelcover in 1968 was the Toronado version, which looks like the above picture but protrudes out farther to clear the Toronado wheel offset.

88/98 15" wheel option looks like this. They used the Toronado center cap and a trim ring. Mostly found on disc brake cars.

Mine has disc brakes, and thus 15” wheels. It came with the Toronado center cabs and trim rings. It is likely the Toronado 15” hubcaps I saw on an Olds 98 with 15” full-size hubcaps not long ago.

The center caps on the car need several layers of paint taken off them (person did a terrible job painting them with a brush), so was looking for an alternative until I get the others cleaned up, and also as something to use to prevent dinging up the Toro center caps once they are redone.

Looks like there was a 1969 15” hubcap, part# 4-402590 that would work.

For 1968 big cars with 15” wheels got hub caps and trim rings as standard…wheels painted body color. The 15” deluxe full wheel covers were optional, look like the deluxe 14s except the inner ring is larger for the 15” wheel. Those wheels are painted black. Note the small hub caps are same as the Toro, but the full wheel covers are not. I have 2 68-98s with the optional 15” deluxe wheel covers and one 68 Delmont with the 15” hub cap /trim rings. I can dig up the part info tomorrow.
Hope this helps, Dave

This hubcap option came in both 14" & 15" sizes.

Here is the PN for the 1968 15” Deluxe Wheel Cover: 399462. I have found them on EBAY but many people confuse the two sizes , so reference the pic of the back…ring color can be either color…but note the subtle gap difference.
Hope this helps,
Dave

Dave, Exactly. I have the same 2 NOS covers.
Both of mine have the black painted back-side attaching ring. The 399340 you have looks galvanized.

First time I've seen the Toro-like wheel option. Never witnessed one in the wild.

What P-code are the 399462, 399340, and the Toro-like wheels?

I’ve got this 68 deluxe 15” cap but it’s marked Toro. The parts book has this 398930. Anybody know if this is truly Toro or the 399462 deluxe cap? One minor ding but very nice overall.

That’s 88/98 not Toronado. The “vents” are actually open on the Toronado version and they are more domed. Not the best pic but may help..Dave

Curious when that wheel option chart was published, since it specifically mentions 14" SSII were available for 88s.

I've never seen one with them but bound to think they'd look good on those swoopy big cars. There's one early 1967 Delta Custom picture that shows it wearing what look to be Kelsey-Hayes Magstars. Stunning.

I've got a set of four, from the pictures shared I believe they are 15". One has a pretty good crunch, two have small flaws, one may be perfect. I would take $75 plus shipping from Oregon for the four. Nope! I was wrong. I just set one up against a 15" wheel and its too small. Ah, should have done that before I posted. Sorry.

At a glance, here is how to differentiate the 14s from the 15s from the back side.
N94(15") & P02 (14").
The faces are identical.

NOS!!

Thanks everyone for the great information and for clarifying what to look for. Went with a set of 1967 15” wheel covers for now. Will decide if I want to get a set of 68 caps, but looks like would need to do so one or two at a time.

Pat…I will get with you about the one you have to see what you want for it.

Have cobbled together a set, but if anyone runs across any other 1968 15” hubcaps, let me know. Willing to continually improve the set I have pulled together.
