1964 starfire interior parts

Looking for drivers side interior door panel, drivers side fender with trim, and rear bumper for my 1964 Olds Starfire.

Just finished with 394 rebuild and slim jim rebuild. I did not realize how $$expensive the master rebuild kit was!

It does have a new flowmaster exhaust system and rebuilt brakes all the way around. The body and interior are next, but not for awhile.

Can the original leather material (dk green) still be purchased?
Thanks for any feedback..........

As I said in my reply to your other thread, all of this is going to have to come from donor cars. Your best bet is to get a recent copy of Hemmings Motor News, looking in the Oldsmobile Parts section, and call or email people who advertise has having parts of your model year. It's going to be hit and miss as none of the stuff you're looking for is being reproduced.

Is it actually leather? In my Jetstar, which is of course a much lower-line model, the seat material was called "moroceen," and, like everything else, it was not being reproduced. I needed to have my front seat reupholstered, and I just had the shop use a vinyl upholstery that matched the original color as closely as possible. The rear seat was OK, so they were able to use that to match the color and texture.

Seating Material

You might try SMS Auto Fabrics out of Canby, Oregon. I found seat cover material and door panel material for my 1964 Dynamic 88 that were a perfect match in color, pattern and fabric. When installed it looks like it could be the original material. I was very happy with their product. They also sent me small samples to review before I finalized the purchase of their product.

1964 Starfires have leather bolsters with pleated Morocceen vinyl inserts and side panels. That dark green should be pretty much a stock leather finish as it's not metallic. Won't make it any cheaper to do though. If it were blue (which IS metallic finished), it would have to be a custom dye job with a probable minimum purchase of two hides, which is way the hell more than you need for 8 bolster pieces.

You might find some GM Doeskin smooth grain vinyl (used 1974-76 Delta). If you can find it in the right color it will be a very close match to the bolsters' original leather finish.

Sounds like you have some good interior and upholstery knowledge. I'm going to try to remember that for future reference. It is always good to know who we can go to or refer questions to when they come up.

Who actually installed the new material? You? Or did you take the seat and the material to an upholstery shop?

The car went through a frame off restoration by a company called Custom Craft out of Forrester, MI. two years ago. They installed the door panel interiors and had a seating guy near their shop redo the seats. As I said, looks like new. When I get a chance I will post some pictures so you can see for yourself.

Sorry about the double move, first to interior, then to "parts wanted". Brain fart I guess, perhaps you will get some offers on the body parts now...

I saw a show quality rear bumper on ebay back in may for $725. It did not sell so he may still have it. It is located in Minnesota. The phone number is 763-441-0459.

Good heavens. At that price, it's no surprise he still has it. He may have it for a long time. Perhaps you can buy it for less money if you wait until his estate sale.

I would jump at a nice rechrome for $725. Cores routinely run $350-500 if you can find a good one, then you have to pay for the plating- total cost involved, in other words. They rust from behind the mounting brackets.

I understand, but for the better part of a grand for a bumper, it had better be as good as new.

I agree with the bumper pricing. I've been pricing them for several years on-line and at events like Carlise. $550-$750 is what I've seen them go for (in nice re-chromed condition).

I've got a nice one that I've been holding on to. I haven't sold it yet because I am going to offer it first to whoever buys my 64 Dynamic or my 64 Jetstar 88 Convertible. I do have some additional parts from another 1964 Dynamic that I parted out.

Let me know what you need and I may have it.

Is your interior Green or is it that aqua blue-green?

I have a NORS set of Arthur Fulmer seat covers that are a fabric/vinyl combination and are blue/turquoise.

Thanks for all of the replies regarding parts and service for my 1964 Starfire. I will put it all to good use. Yes the interior is dk green and I believe the exterior is Jade green. Mechanically the car is sound, not a race car but a darn good cruiser.

It still has the original 14" steel wheels with hub caps, that are off now. I am thinking of going to a retro-mod set up with 17" matte black Torq Thrust D's and black wall radials.
It is really hard to be patient and watch her sleep it the garage while I save $ for next the restoration/service item(s). Time is on my side ..................for now.
