1949 Olds rear center section 3.42 - 3.23

Looking for a good center section with either 3.42's or 3.23's. Will buy outright or swap for the current one in my car. it is a 4.11 rear, and quiet as a mouse. Email me with what you have.

From what I have read, 47 through 55 are all interchangeable. What gear ratio is the one you have ?

Still in need of a center section with 3.23 or 3.42 rear gears. Someone has to have a spare one they are willing to part with.

Exclamation Be careful

If you want to exchange the carrier assembly as a unit, the 29th Hollander says that from late '49 to '52 (8 cyl. cars) will interchange. (Hollander number 525). It has the filler plug in the carrier and has 7/16" bolt holes. For Hydramatic the ring/pinion teeth counts available are: 39-10; 40-11; 41-12; 42-13; and 40-13. It also says that the Hollander number 523, late '49-56 Pontiac will work if you drill out the 3/8" holes to 7/16". On some the carrier caps must be ground a bit for clearance.

Thanks for the information Ozzie. I am still looking, but nothing yet. Now that the good weather is here, I' d really like to change the rear end. Anybody have one they are willing to part with ?
