I'm looking for the original Palnuts that secure the spark plug loom on top of the valve covers on the 1949 and 1950 Oldsmobile Rocket 303. Hex width is 9/16 and bolt size is 5/16. See photos. Thanks for your help!
Thanks but no luck so far. I've checked the big box, local hardware stores, a salvage yard and bolt suppliers like Bolt Products. These are super rare aluminum and say PAL on the bottom edge. Maybe someone parting out a Rocket 303 will have them.

Here's a bit more to muddy the water. The Oldsmobile Chassis Parts Book shows those nuts for the 1949-1950 engines as group number 8.919 in the "standard" parts section. The corresponding image (called blind acorn nuts) is not the one shown in your image. Rather than the "sheet metal" type of acorn nut, it shows a "solid" acorn nut. Another bit of confusion is that it shows a size of 1/4"-28 (part number 131657). Perhaps you can make sense of all of this. In any case, Fusick, in their #600 catalog (1935-1960 Oldsmobile), page 55, shows "VCN490 1949-50 Acorn Nuts 1949-50 V-8 11.50 set of 4). There is no photo, so I can't tell what they have. They also say that the 1949 cover is silver with red lettering while the 1950 is gold with red letters.
I can look at my Dads 49 & get you a picture to verify.... it is an all original 22,000mi car that has never been touched.
I do not remember as I haven't looked at it for years.
Thanks, mine is a 1950 so I have the correct gold/red covers. The Fusick acorn nuts are pictured on their site and they are the standard stainless nuts that you can get at any hardware store. I'm told that the Palnut I have pictured are correct for 1950, but I'll continue to research. I lost one so trying to match the other three. Thanks so much for chiming in. Steve.
