1934 Olds 8 big-end and main bearings

I'm helping my neighbour with his 1934 Olds 8 and 6 sedans. They haven't run for probably 30 or more years, and the 8 had apparently run a bearing. My guess would be a big-end. We've yet to tear it down, but would like to know if these are shell bearings, if they are available and whether they can be done in-situ over a pit, or if the motor needs to come out? Any advice would be gratefully received.

Cheers,

EB.

You might want to try this company!http://egge.com/info/services/

If they don't have the bearings, they re-babbit what you have.
