15x7 SSll WHEEL
#3
isn't that a ~'86 442 chrome wheel that has been painted & older hole trim rings installed to mimic a '69 H/O wheel ??
but, maybe it is aftermarket (or custom) because it doesn't have the wide surface where the valve stem is located

Yup, that wheel in the first pic is a chromed 15" aftermarket rim. I'm guessing they simply painted the center and added the bezel rings. Olds never made an SSII chrome hoop with painted centers that have a snap-on cap. You can tell it's aftermarket because of that stepped wheel shape is thinner, plus the valve stem sticks almost straight out due to the lack of slope of the stepped area. The OEM wheels put the stem hole almost on the edge of the wide step portion and the slope of that wide step tilts in as it moves toward the center, tilting the valve stem slightly inward.
The wheel manufacturer cuts out the centers of OEM rims, either 14 or 15 inch, cuz they're the same size, and then welds them into the new hoop with the incorrect backspace, and then they chrome the whole thing. OEM welded the complete circle around the hoop, but the aftermarket usually welded just the areas where the spokes were leaving gaps. The correct BS for the 15 x 7 442 rims were 4". And the aftermarkets were almost always 4.25" unless you had someone who would build them for you with the correct 4" back space. Thus, the 4.25" BS tucks the tires in by 1/4" over the OEM wheels and makes the center cap stick out more. Technically the center cap is in the right spot, just the rim and tire are moved in by 1/4".
