So close...but no cookie I was so happy then I saw I had copied your number incorrectly...What's the application for the one you want Sam, don't recall '935's?

Regards, Brett

I looked in the PIM/assembly manual I only see a '934 listed under 71 4400 models, no '935. Was the 935 a replacement for the 554?
Thanks in advance for the info. As I hog Sam's thread, sorry
Brett

1100935 alternator

My 1974 Chilton auto repair manual lists the 1100935 for '71-'72, as a 55A, internal regulator alternator. Apparently, that's an original #.

The 1100935 is a 55 amp internally regulated Alt correct for 1971 442. The second production number is 1100552. The 63 amp Alt number is 1100949, second production is 1100592. The 37 amp Alt number is 1100934. Hope this helps.

Alternator

First, my apologies to all [Sam, Luis, Bob, Devon] for dragging this topic out and stepping on Sam's thread, but its touching on my OCD...this is what I am seeing in the 71 PIM {assembly manual} am I misapplying it? I always thought it {the PIM} was one of the forms of the Olds gospel for clarification & accuracy.
Please help me understand why this isn't correct information.

Sincerely,
Brett

Brett, you kidding me, no apologies needed. I need all the help I can get - Im still trying to confirm exactly what alternator is needed for a 71 442 w/ ac. (NO rear window defog.)

The car was built in May 71 if that matters. - i thought i needed the 935 from what I was told????

Thanks all for helping.
Cheers,

Sam

Sam, I feel like I am questioning the Teachers if they checked their work, asking the 'guys' if its correct. I am a numbers guy, I work with them, and my character lends itself to being able to remember some. When I look at the book and it doesn't match what so many other people whose opinions & knowledge I respect, I tread lightly. This dog is never to old...you know the rest.

Too true, BAP. but it agrees with what they said.

And I just got out the magnifying glass, there on the bottom of the PIM.... the 1100935 was a engineering/production change on 7-27-1970 to the 1100552....just like Devon said. I will put on my dunce cap now.
