I don't think the tow hitch lends much to the aesthetics of my vision for my 1966 Starfire street rod...What's the hitch worth? Whatever the scrap yard is giving for steel?

 

Pretty much. I'd lay money it's not a factory hitch anyway.

 

I have never seen a factory hitch for a '66, but I would assume, if it is factory, that the car would have other equipment designed for towing, such as HD radiator, transmission (or other) coolers, rear stabilzer (sway) bar, optional lower rear end ratio, etc. I assume some or all of this would be indicated on the body trim plate, or broadcast sheet, if you have one.

Do you have any pics of your car? I had two 1966 Starfires, and loved both of them!

 

I do have some pictures but at the moment it is sitting on what's left of the tires with leaves up to the rockers. I am having it delivered in a couple weeks but as Henry Ford said, "Before everything else, getting ready is the secret of success."

It still has bounce in the rearend so it might have the load leveling shocks and I think it does have a trans cooler... I'll have to look again. Wasn't really looking for it before.
