This is the best & cleanest rearend I have ever seen.Came out of car in 71 Been stored since. Absolutly no pitting. It is coded for 3:42 but has 4:66 gears and original posi unit. No drums or brakes. It has very few miles on it. 1500.00 I might sell in pieces Carrier,gears, housing separatly I dont have pics yet I have to dig it out Will be able to send pics later.You wont find a nicer cleaner unrestored rear! I got a friend in columbus that would be interest4ed in the 4.66 R&P.

 

What is the casting date?

 

The date that is stamped next to the cover on the right side has only the day stamp and no month. It has a 3 and no letter. It does have an R that is almost under the cover but there is no month that is an R letter designation. I checked both sides and the left side has nothing at all.

Look on the passenger side of the pumpkin,just back from the yoke.You should see the julian date.What is that?
Sometimes they stamped the finish date on the cover,next to the TOP stamp.

 

It shows a casting date of 78 could be 76 the last # is blobed and where I have the rear I almost had to stand on my head to read it.
