This would be the recirculate / fresh air selector unit. The plastic hose connectors can get broken easily during heater box removals, so someone will want this.

Thanks for the info! I'll put it back on the high shelf in the garage and hopefully when somebody needs it, I can supply it for them and make a few bucks in the process.
