1966 R Code 442 14x6 Wheels, Poverty Caps and Tires

Full set of four wheels and tires for your '66 442. The Wheels are all straight and tires have been balanced and on a car for the summer. As you can see from the photos the wheels are not perfect and would need some work to put on your 1000 point show car, but overall they looked very nice on my '66. Tires still have a lot of tread (2) 205/70 14, and (2) 215/70 14. The dog dish caps are excellent for being original. They do have a scratch or ding here and there but very nice overall. $500 + ship. Located near Madison, WI.

Do you still have these tires and rim? Is the "R" code correct for a 66 442? What other years would the "R" code be correct for? Thanks,

I do still have these, and yes the R code is correct for a 66 442. I'm not sure what other years the R code is for... but it's possible they used them in '65. The difference with these wheels is they are 14x6 vs. the standard 14 14x5.5 used on the cutlass.

R code is the heavy duty 14 x 6 steel wheel correct for (among others) 1965-1968 442s.

What would the backspace be or offset? I have heard it is 4.5" or 1.00" is that correct?

I am south of RED WING, MN; how far are you from Madison and which direction? Thanks.

Are you sure the code didn't change. A few years back I took a set of rims off a 67 olds wagon, the rims were 14x6 JK drum brake rims with a 1.00 offset and the code was 6 A3. I do have 3 rims in the garage now that are stamped with a code of R and the outer rim, which is hidden by the tire when mounted, is stamped 65 along with other stampings like 14x6JK.

Remember the wheels on the 67 wagon might not be original to the car. I've found a number of R code wheels on 66-67 Vistas.
