1948 Hydramatic transmission

This hydramatic transmission came from a ‘48 Olds with a straight eight. It is a direct pull out and what is pictured from the bell flange aft is what you’d be purchasing. More photos on request. $300 plus freight in the lower 48, or local pickup in the Ft Worth area. Thanks much for your interest.

I know next to nothing about this generation of Olds. Are there any other GM cars of this vintage with which it might interchange?

According to Petters, there is are small differences between the early hydromatics and the ‘48, though I’m confident that it will work with early engines as well. I don’t know if it is compatible with V8 variants.

For clarification, I whipped out my Hollander book to definitively describe the interchangeability of this transmission. As noted, the flywheel seems to be the only difference for interchangeability.😊

Apologies, I tried to send a message today, but your infant status prevents me from sending a private message. I’m not really wanting to have a conversation with public access.

No worries. Thanks for checking. Was trying to save myself some time on rebuilding the existing transmission. Lost reverse and it’s leaking like a sieve.

I guess I’ll pull the old one out of the car and see how bad it is but my gut tells me it’s a goner.
