Yesterday's post removed because I neglected to include asking price. Here's a re-do:
1971 Olds 455 W-30 "H" Cylinder Heads Completely Restored
Bought around 2019, never opened the pkg until the other day. No longer need them.
$5k, plus $250 Shipping. Will assist with shipping. ~Geo ( aka: Sloshovel )
Not the slightest. Not much the mechanic here. Facing pics look machined so likely?
Bought them around 2019, never never opened pkg till few days ago.
Am looking for shops that can inspect, answer questions re: Magnaflux? Decked? B-Printed? etc
Are there other questions I should ask?

Reason: CLARIFICATION
#@! Raining here in London OH, lights went out long enough to have to restart PC, figure out where I was trying to clarify my H Heads post. Son playing hookey today helped with pic, for what its worth, of straightedge over flashlight to at least show face is flat. Will carry heads to a mach shop asap to get pertinent questions answered. All questions appreciated! ~Sloshovel
Re: Sloshovel trying to sell '71 455 "H" Cyl Heads
Hello Bill,
Finally noted the "Reply" button. At 81yrs this month am in more than out but the Queen has me running today. Your question regards status of the heads I posted in Sept showed up in my my email, so "it Looks like" I may be set up to recv a heads-up from the forum regards interest in them. I'll in any case check the forum thru the day.
~Jack
Just reading your questions Bill.
On "were the heads cut?" You're the second person to ask. No idea and not overly excited about hauling them to a shop. I'd need to hire Two Men And A Truck. Mayhaps I can find a mobile service. Better yet, a local Buyer, near bustling downtown London, Ohio.
On "blemishes and rust?" The heads sat unopened in my attached garage ( heated and dry ) from the day I received them until I unwrapped them to take pics for this post. I keep the garage heated and dry.
I can recall looking but can't recall whether I found a local shop that could address questions. I'll look again, let you know what I'm able to do.
Thanks for your interest ~Jack
PS: If there's any other questions you think I should ask please let me know?
Well I would like to make an offer, one that you are comfortable with and one that I am comfortable with. The problem is we don't know if they are cracked. That is where magna fluxing comes in. The reason i asked about them being resurfaced or "cut" is that can change the compression ratio and make the intake hard to install if too much material is taken off. My biggest concern is if they are cracked. I really want them Jack so don't turn me away. I was actively persuing a different set and completely forgot about them. So I lost out. I did find ypurs though. So maybe I won't lose out this time.
Hey Bill! I've replied to you a few times using the url in the "reply sent" notice from the forum but unsure any of those go anywhwere...
I think I'm back of the forum now, posting.
Msg I last sent is basically, "I'll search for a shop that offers the service we need. My neighbor will help with hauling." ( within reason )
I'm also trying to find record of from who and exactly when I bought the heads. I had the Seller's number, called a few years ago to ask if the heads were painted. Unsure why, I suppose just curious. He couldn't tell me, said "so many had passed thru his hands over the years."
Ok. I sent you a private message that may make conversing easier. Look at the menu in the upper lrft corner usually 3 horizontal lines and then messages.
bill.snyder.bs@gmail.com[/i];1660635]Right. How did that hacker get my email? The board is compromised I think. My email is in a private message to you.
^^^^^^^^^ does this give you a clue how a scammer got your email address ?

Hi Jack, let me know if there is anything I can do to help thinhs along.
Sorry bill, these days my reading comprehension skills are weak!
Re: "is there anything you can do to help move things along?"
if you can recommend a shop that provides magnaflux and xray service nearby london it would be a help.
I'm hunting, will keep in touch ~jack email okay?
Heads are at C&E Springfield. I mentioned your main concern is cracks. You mentioned warping and asked if they were cut. They said they'll check the deck height against OEM specs. Positive comments were, "they're clean, they look fresh" and "hardened seats" is all I can recall.
Thats all the news fit for print. Will keep in touch.
Nope. When I contacted C&E by phone Wed, the 3rd they told me "It may be a week, but may be sooner." Dropped them around noon Thu, the 4th. Will call and share status today.
