Need better pictures to be sure, but it looks like there’s an oil seal between the bearing and retainer. If so, that would make them 1970 shafts.

I will recheck. I pulled them about 30 years ago, I'm sure it was a 67, and I was hoping they were 31 spline, and weren't.That doesn't mean it could not have had a 70 rear end. I wanted them for a 70, and thought the axles were the same, only the seal and bearings were different? Will try post better photo.

That is definitely the later style with the axle seal sammiched between the bearing and the retainer. That style bearing and seal was used on the 1970 O-Type rearend and also on the 1971-up 8.5" 10 bolt axles.

SuperCars Unlimited has some good pictures and descriptions of the early (67-69) and late (70) O-Type axle shafts, seals, and bearings.

Fun 71, have to agree with you. I thought when I pulled them it was a 67, but must have had a 70 rear end? I also thought that the 70 had the big bearing retainer behind the bearing.Maybe now I should save them, as I have a 70.
