Hi All you land yacht skippers! I have for sale a posi carrier removed from a 1968 Olds 98 rear end. It's casting number is 700, it has 12 bolts holding the ring gear on and 31 splines for the axles. All I have is the carrier as seen in the photos. But after discussing it with Jim (monzaz) our resident expert on differentials here's what he shared with me:

"You have that dead to rights. 1967 68 69 70 Olds full size 88 98 rear 12 bolt cover 12 bolts on the ring gear too. ONLY 2.56 fits that carrier But you might be able to find a spacer kit that will bump it up to 2.78 2.93 range.29 spline yoke - It is a trac lock unit same as 8.5 factory units from 1970 -1987 car.The 8.5 clutches will actually fit and can be used to rebuild these units. Spider gears are different obviously these can be used in bolt in axle rear or early 1973 1974 75 12 bolt olds rears full size too."

I pulled this several years ago from my favorite bone yard which no longer exists. They wanted $350 for the whole rear end but only $100 for the carrier. After I pulled the carrier they tossed the rear end housing and axles into the crusher pile Oh well... that' the history on it. Now you know what I have into it, I'd like to have $125 plus shipping to cover my time of pulling it apart. Wow John, you have alot of cool stuff. Too bad it is one year out of range for my 71 98. Oh well.
