I have a disassembled but complete close ratio Muncie m21 for speed transmission for sale. It was a complete running transmission that I was going to have rebuilt but decided to go a different direction. The casting number are as follows:

1963 - 1974 M21 One 2.20 1.64 1.28 1.00 2.27

Date code = P 0203 (February 03. 63-67 did not include a year with the date.)

Also stamped = L159606 (maybe partial vin Los Angeles plant?)

All parts and gears are included. New price $400 plus shipping.

Anybody know exactly what the L159606 stamp actually means for sure? Doesn’t look correct for a partial VIN. Any way to tell what year and/or model car this transmission actually came from? Looks like the tail housing and possibly side cover may have been swapped? It was removed from a running 1970 Camaro before it was disassembled.

Yes, the L159606 stamp is the VIN derivative as used on transmissions. It includes the build Plant, L, and the last six digit sequence from the VIN.

PM sent.
