TN code o-axle rear end

This is a 1968 31 spline TN code rear end casting numbers 394139 , . It is a 3;91 open with the 31 spline axles . Housing has been acid dipped , has some pitting on the housing , and primed and painted , the backing plates - rear cover - yoke - and retaining plates have been bead blasted and primed - painted . It will be backing plate to backing plate , no brakes . I can rebuild it to the oem open set up or install a posi in it . Asking $ 1200 for the open or $1500 for the posi set up . Picked up at my location . Hebron Illinois zip 60034 .

Wow, a HD 3.91 open rear. I have a similar one but TL code 3.42 ratio. I thought mine was odd being a HD rear and non-posi. Why the heck did folks order these things back then?

I have one of those 3.91 open TN rears too. It was under a 68 442 4spd post that was drag raced. They welded the spider gears to the carrier and let her rip! Held up quite fine well surprisingly. I sold the carrier to guy for use in his 68 W31 race car and installed a factory posi.

Interesting, I've got one too that also came under a 1968 442 4spd post car. I wish they had spent the extra $$ to have added a posi.

My 68 4.33 posi 31 spline axle not sure if 4.33 are original. But I'm trading for 70 442 12 bolt cover 3.91 soon.
