True Slap automatic shifter conversions available

  • Hi everyone. I've designed, patented, and now am selling custom detent plates to convert the '67-'72 Cutlass, 442, etc, shifters to slap shifters. You can easily replace the factory shifter detent with mine and keep the factory look, but also have the desired safety and function of an aftermarket slap shifter. I've been making custom detents for Chevrolet and Buick in the past 2 1/2 years and recently completed these Oldsmobile designs.
  • They allow the user to simply slap the shifter handle forward for the 1-2 shift. When ready for the 2-3 shift, you just slap it again. It won't accidentally shift from 3rd to Neutral. I have the TSO4 for overdrives and it can be slapped for all 3 upshifts. The TSO3 is for normal pattern 3 speeds, and the TSO3R is for reverse pattern 3 speeds. They are heat treated and your satisfaction is guaranteed. Price is $90, plus $8 flat rate shipping anywhere in the 50 states. I can ship out of the country for actual shipping costs.
  • All of my parts are made in Hannibal, MO.
  • Please check out all my YouTube videos. I have 12, maybe more. You can find them by searching there, or with a Google search, using the words "True Slap detent", or you can use "DPJ Fabricating".

Do you have a version that would convert a standard 3-speed shifter to have 4 detents (3 slaps instead of two) for a 200-4R?

Got it installed yesterday and it works like a charm. I guess the original detent plate had some wear in the park position because sometimes I would have to mess with the stick to get it to start. Now when in park it starts every time.

I have the 3 speed detents available right now, and I have an order for 4 speed and 3 speed reverse pattern detents due to be laser cut October 7th.
These detents are selling well. Counting all of my Oldsmobile, Buick, and Chevrolet designs, I've sold over 300. They were all sold with a satisfaction guarantee, and no one has ever asked for a refund.

The TSO4 for the 4 speed overdrives and the TSO3R for the reverse pattern 3 speeds were laser cut Thursday. I'll be getting some heat treated this week.

All 3 designs are available. I've been selling them in some Facebook groups. They have a satisfaction guarantee and no one has asked for a refund. They work great!

So would this work on a 2004R (4 speed) but with the factory Dual Gate shifter?

Sorry, but no. These detents are for converting the basic console shifter to have the slap shifter function. If I could get my hands on a dual gate shifter, I could likely design a detent for it.

I believe on the normal drive position of the Dual Gate, it's exactly the same as a standard shifter. It's only the Dual Gate side to the right that changes.

Maybe I am wrong?

You could very well be correct, but I can't say for certain. I've never had a dual gate shifter to study, but I'd like to get a loaner to see what I can do with it, or purchase one.

Finally installed mine and this thing is great. So nice bumping through the gears without fear of over travel. I also like that the 3rd to 2nd downshift is just as solid. Great Job on these Dan. Everyone needs one.

I haven't been able to get a dual gate shifter to work with. From looking at the photos, which I'm grateful to receive, I don't see a resemblance to the detent in the base shifter.

Yes, that's correct.

I have these detent plates available and I've never had anyone ask for a refund for any of my parts, including all Chevrolet, Buick, and Pontiac detents. They are simple and they work great!

Edit: These are for the basic shifter for automatics.

Dan

So you have the Dual Gate Shifter detent plates available?

Is the detent modified on the Dual-Gate side or the standard side or both sides?

Will it work with a 4-speed overdrive? ( I currently have the Dual-Gate shifter with a 2004R trans)

If so, can you post a picture?

I now have a column to use for design. I don't know if there's enough room in the column for it to work, but I'll find out.

Bump. I've now sold about 75 of these detent plates and no one has ever asked for a refund. They work great and I have them in stock, heat treated, ready to go. I now have a new design that's for the 2 speed transmissions.

Price is still $90, plus $8 shipping to the states. All others pay actual shipping costs.

Thanks!

Cool!

Any update on whether or not you will have a Dual-Gate version for a 4-speed overdrive or standard 3-speed transmission?

pettrix, I've studied photos of the dual gate, but I don't have a shifter to work with. If someone would loan one out, I'd be glad to see what can be done with it. I'll send you a PM.

Thanks,
Dan
