I am not familiar with this unit. Is it for 4 speeds or automatics? can this use different gears to accommodate different gear ratios? is it for a 1970,or is it year specific? forgive my ignorance,is it proper for 1968 also? Please educate me,thanks.

The adapters are used to make speedometer read correctly to compensate for tire size and ratio. From what I can find (link above) this particular one is is for speedometer reading 26% slower than actual speed. So , it will make speedometer read higher, I did not remove this from a car personally. I discovered it while digging through parts I acquired years ago. My 1972 Cutlass with M20 4 speed has an angled adapter that looks like this , but I am not sure what ratio that one is??

My '69 W31 had one. It is a factory 4:33 geared 4 speed car. The previous owner swapped in a set of 3:42's and kept the adapter on, I removed it as it read high, turns out the driven gear used with it was correct for the 3:42's. I still have it tucked away.
