I don't see any split. Where would it be? Do you want another photo? Did you look at the photos?

I did look but I see nothing that would tell me why the weld is there and since your closer than me I thought I would ask.

The weld must be covering a crack. Can't tell. Are you interested? Do you want another photo?

its a common repair..they bend right there..so a little weld build up creates a gusset just an old school repair..
