Restored Open Face 37 Amp. Alternator

1 - 37 Amp open face alternator. Fits All 442 s with internal voltage regulator. Restored by John Pirkle Restorations, the Corvette guru for restoring alternators. Alumn. hsgs. re-skinned, complete rebuilt with GM parts, including brgs. Alternator housing is not stamped with either part # or date code, so you can stamp these numbers to fit your year. Includes correct finished fan and nut. Wave washer is missing.

Dave,
I just got a parts car & it has an alternator on it. It's not quite like yours, but I don't think it's quite a regular one either? Can you take a look at this picture & give me your opinion?

oldspackrat: nice score! Looks like a high optioned 71' Supreme. That is an external voltage regulator type with open face and 55 amp, because it has A/C. Plus the alumn. hsgs. look to have a lot of corrosion! Pretty common alternator.

It is the internal voltage regulator open face 37 amp ones that are rare and thus expensive.

Isnt there something were the corvettes have 6 spokes and the olds have 5 or vice versa

This is not a corvette piece, it is an application for an Olds! John Pirkle has done several of my alternators for a few high dollar restoration I have done over the years. I got this Alt. off a 70' 442 that I had I parted out. He offered me a new non-stamped hsg. for a few dollars more in the restoration cost of the alt. so I jumped on it.
