Rebuilt/Restored 8.5" 10-bolt posi rears for 64-72 A-body

Rebuilt/restored 8.5" 10-bolt posi rears, built to suit, with your choice of gear ratio. These are the 8.5" 10-bolt that came under the 71-72 Cutlass/442's.I also have the Vista Cruiser rears which have the larger axles bearings,& the wider brake shoes, but will also fit any 64-72 A-body,& have the same outer width. These are all non c-clip rears, with bolt-in axles. The 64-65 Cutlass/442's came with rears that are 5/8" narrower on each side,so if you are swapping for one of these, make sure you have room for your wheels to come out 5/8",or if you are buying new rims, get something with a deeper backspace to keep everything centered under there.
The rears are stripped,hot-tanked,blasted,epoxy-primed,& urethane coated satin black.
Rebuilt GM clutch style posi unit, with new clutches & 300lb S-spring.
All new Timken bearings/seals,crush sleeve,etc.
Motive gearsets: 3:08,3:23,3:42,3:73,3:90,4:11,4:56
The rear is set-up with correct pattern, assembled, filled with fluid & posi additive, and ready to run.Backing plates are included,or I can also offer a complete new brake package to make it drum-to-drum.
Price is $950.00 without brakes,or $1200.00 with brake package.
These are all nice rust-free,pit-free,show-quality housings.
I normally ship my rears via ABF Freight System, dock to dock, but if you have an account at another company, check with me to see if I have one of their terminals here.I am located in Erie,PA.
Strip/race rears also available.Inquire with needs.A few examples:

Just wanted to say that I have delt with Brian for years on parts and rears. He is a stand up guy and always goes above and beyond to do the "right" thing. Do not hesitate to buy from him. If you need a part ask him he probably has it. JKaz

It seems like the cover with scalloped sides (used on Chevy 8.5s) fits and would make the diff look like the old 8.2. Is this correct?

The 71-72 8.5" 10-bolt that came with the scalloped cover, have a large letter "A" cast into the pumpkin.
The 71-72 8.5" 10-bolt that came with the round cover, have a large "O" cast into the pumpkin.
The scalloped cover will physically bolt on to a rear like the O-casting I have pictured, but it will not work. The rear pictured, with the round cover, has oiling holes on the outer edges,at 9:00 & 3:00,and they would be exposed with the scalloped cover.
However, you can put the round cover on the A-casting rear no problem. The round cover can also be installed onto an 8.2" Chevy, but not the BOP 8.2". The BOP 8.2" has a shorter/different bolt pattern on the cover, but looks just like the scalloped cover on the A-casting 8.5" 10-bolt.
