Rallye 350's are one of Oldsmobile's great cars, built with just the right parts and engine to make them unique, especially considering why they were built and at such a great value for the package.

It is too bad hackers now and in the past have made them an endangered species, with great examples lost forever.

Also making them interesting is the vast differences from one to another, of course not the paint and trim, but the way they were optioned, with F-85 Rallye 350's loaded with options to the "S" models with only one or two options, and vice-versa.

To gut these cars for parts, especially when they are still restorable, is an out crime. They are just as desirable & valuable as the W-30's, W-31's, H/O's, V-Codes, SX's, etc....

The Rallye 350 still gets the same positive comments and stares today, as they did in the day, from the young to the old.

I agree that they are cool & rare. I did a frame off resto on one & still have it. It came with the window sticker & besides the mandatory Rallye options, has 16 other options. The ones I've bought recently are severely rusted/damaged & it would not really make sense for someone to spend $20,000-$30,000 to restore one & have it be worth only about $20,000 or so. I'm all for saving cars if they can be saved, but with bad frame & structural rust, it makes better sense for some of them to be parted out to maybe save other cars.
That being said, I do have titles for 3 of the recent 4 Rallyes purchased & one of them is a restorable car if anyone is interested in them.

 

Sorry, my message was not meant for those cars that are TOTALLY beyond repair or restoration, and was NOT directed towards you. Just seen too many good Rallye's in past just hacked for the valuable parts.

 

No,I wasn't joking.I would not take a perfectly good,savable car,and cut it up.The ones that I have parted,were well-deserving to be put out of their misery.A Rallye just happens to be a great parts car because of everything they come with from the factory,like the hood,wing,mirrors,and whatever other goodies were chosen.They are a cool car,but you have to really want one to invest all the time & money into restoring one because they do not hold the same value as a W30,regular 442,or a W31.It's a yellow Cutlass that was cheaper to insure.

 

Picture of the rear edge of the OAI hood. It looks like someone has shaved/ground the top 1/2" or so of the metal frame all the way across for some reason??? There is some rust around the front latch area, but no rust through & the top is actually in pretty good condition. Price drop to $1500.00, prefer not to ship, but local pick up is welcome on the east side of Indianapolis. I might be able to bring this to the Olds. nationals in a few weeks also.

Crawling under the car, this is about the only kind of numbers I could find. I assume it's the original trans, but don't know for sure. I think the last 6 of the vin are stamped on the case somewhere, but I don't know where to look. Point me in the right direction?

From my understanding they dont have the VIN on the Trans but i am no pro, I will look at my book and see what the number should be for the Trans. Thanks for the picture sir either way and i will get back to you

Regarding the VIN on the transmission: I believe you will find it on the case just above the pan. Can't remember which side but have seen it on my '70 (which has the wrong '69 date transmission) and on my '72. I think it was just the last part of the VIN but, again, don't remember exactly.

Here are a couple pix of the steering wheel also. It needs a good cleaning & is missing a small chunk on one of the outer spokes. Also the horn button is missing. $130.00 shipped???

There is apparently a rod that goes underneathe everything that must do something because mine had nothing holding it in place to keep it pressed up
