I have a 1969 cutlass with a 12 bolt peg leg. I dont know if its the type O im reading about here. Which I guess means it has a 12 bolt cover but only 10 bolts on the carrier. Im interested if this will work on my rear end.

this unit is for a 8.2" ring gear not a 8.5'. it is very easy to install. when your going straight ahead both wheels are locked. when you turn it clicks to let the inside wheel turn less. you can see these in the summit catalog.

I saw them in the summit catalog but it doesn't tell much about them. Does it act like a spool? Is it dangerous to drive on wet pavement like a spool? Why are you getting rid of it?? Im definitely intersted. Thanks

My 71 cutlass came with an 8.5" 2.56/1 open rear end. A friend gave me an 8.2" 3.36/1. open rear end. My son talked me into the locker.A short while later I came across an 8.5" 3.08/1 posi carrier. I put this in my original housing and back in the car. The 8.2 is under the bench. I was told that some guys use them for drag racing. although I havent driven the car alot on wet roads I've never had any issuses with the way the car handles.

I will try to pull my cover this weekend and see if I have the 8.2 or 8.5. Is this a 28 spline?
Is there a part number on it? Thanks for answering all my questions. I see you are in Canada. Do you know what it would cost to ship to zip code 61065 ILLINOIS ...Thanks again, Eric

Hi Eric yes this is a 28 spline. If you want to know if you have an 8.2 or 8.5 just look at the bottom side of the carrier housing. Thats on the exterior. If there are 2 trianglular ears there then you have an 8.5. no triangles means an 8.2. I will look into shipping costs.
