All original car. Lots of good parts. I just got it today so i figure i would pick parts for people the first day or so. It has a nice black interior i hope someone can use (other then a rip on the driver seat) Ill hook up a battery to see what electrical works. It has been sitting since 1982 in an old guys garage so i hope the mice didnt get to it to bad.

Yep. I had to go get it before someone bought it for scrap. It was up on craigslist way to long. I was about to pull the trigger on the cheap Vert, and the 50 too.But they both sold.

If all these guys would just ask 500 bucks for their junk cars in the first place, instead of 1500, and are too lazy to part it themselves.... we wouldn't have to chew up any fingernails worrying that they're going to get pissed and scrap all those good parts.

People want to be rewarded for letting their cars rot to death.

 

Yep your right. I always get them alot less then listed for. But it is usually as they sit online for a while. Then i can talk them down easier. If they would have listed the car for $500 a scrapper would have been there so fast. I think it makes it easier for them to sell it for less knowing its going to a good home, or at least it isnt going right to the junk yard.

 

A lot of the scrappers wouldn't even bother at $500. Most of them are broke, and not car guys. A complete car only has 3000lbs in scrap metal after glass tires and interior.
So.....that leaves a COMPLETE car only worth about 400 and you still have Fuel cost, and 3 days of labor to do taking out parts and cutting it up into pieces.

Not a glorious task, but for us guys that love cars, it's a labor of love.

 

Not that kind of scrapper. The ones that junk cars. You see their adds on craigslist looking for junk cars. Your right though, Even those guys are not car guys. I have been selling the shells cheap to them. But they are never into the cars. Its just a easy job to them that they can be lazy and just get by. Kind of the The scrapper we both know from bolingbrook.

I could use the hold down bracket/clamp for the jack assembly (looks like a L or J shaped flat piece of metal with a hole in one end) and hoping there is an extension piece on the bottom of the dash that would curve down into the drivers side floor mat just right of the gas pedal, center dash. Let me know if these are aval. Thanks

 

Josh, if it's a manual A/C car and no one has claimed it, I can use the A/C control head. I can't tell in the pic if it's A/C or heater only. Price and ride to 24520?

Here's some interchange:

Doors, roof and all body glass 1966-1970. Glass is also an interchange with 66-70 Riviera.

Hood 1968-1970

Decklid 1969-1970. All other sheetmetal is 1970 Toro only.

Front 7 rear stub frames 1966-1970

Rocket88, I think the trunk tools are identical 66-70. If the car has the styrofoam holder with cardboard sleeve for them, that is a good score.

If car still has the exhaust pipe shields where the pipe goes over the steering shaft, also a good score. They often got left off in exhaust work and you can tell a difference when it's missing.

There are also rubber flaps between the rear bumper and the trunk pan that are often gone or cut away to access taillight bulbs or bumper brackets.

That reminds me. I have to call a guy back on it. Ill let you know. But i just got 2 66 toros today. One has A/C the other climate control. Does the 66 match? The one that Has just A/C is the one i will part for sure (lots of rust)


Most of the outside stuff on this 70 as toast. I think the hood might be savable. But the rest had issues. Thanks for all the interchange help.

 

No it was junk. But i have 2 66s. Are they the same?

 

66-67 A/C heads are different. One from a 68-70 should work. Thanks for looking.

 

Josh - if I understand you correctly you are saying you have a couple of 66 underhood lamps? I do not know if they are the same as the 1970. Canyou post a picture?

Have you ever taken the upper dash out of a Toro ( metal part the windshield sits on) I took my windshield out and found out mine is rotten. I can weld in patch panels, but?
Also need carb parts or a whole carb as mine is toast.
Are you really going to keep one of the 66's?

OMG - I have a 63 Corvair convertible and a 67 Toro, never thought of putting a Toro drive train in the Corvair, LMAO!! What is the ROP site listed above? BTW - I need an AM/FM radio for the 67 Toro.

I have a 66 AM and a 66 Wonderbar am/fm I wont be able to do much the next few days. But ill be back on top of it all later in the week.

 

Do either of the 66's have decent batwing steering wheels? My 67 has tilt/tele and I like the 66 wheels better than the 67.

 

Now by "Decent" what do you mean? Like a couple of cracks ok? I know one has 2 or 3 cracks, but not bad. I have to check the other.

 

A couple cracks is fine. This is a daily driver, does not have to be perfect.

 

Do you happen to have a door interior courtesy light from this Toro? Circled in inserted pic

 

I'm looking for an A/C Discharge Hose (the one with the muffler in line) Do you have that piece? and if so is it in good shape? I'm not looking for junk
