Actually these are very low mile drums. The axle they were on had 5.00 ratio gears
They do need to be turned before being used

 

I tried to get a set turned, nobody does it in my town..guy in Washington was going to see me a set but I wanted them turned first on my dime so I didn’t end up with two expensive paper weights. He couldn’t find anyone to turn them up there either..

 

I’ve discovered more recently that stores that provide turning service are VERY reluctant to do it. I went in to have my wife’s ‘11 Yukon rear disks surfaced (1st time/not grooved) and the guy kept saying “Oh I don’t know, your going to be close to min-thickness!!” I told him that I didn’t care if it was min-thickness so long as it was in tolerance. He reluctantly turned them and behaved as though I was putting my wife’s safety at risk. More recently I brought in these bell drums to turn as a spare set. They looked at my rusty/pitted drums, did a quick caliper check and told me that there was no way that they would be in tolerance if cut. The next day I cut them during my lunch on the lathe with a boaring bar cutter in the machine shop at my work. They are 100% in tolerance (9.560”) and all damage removed. These drums are getting scarce, good luck with the sale.

My local O'Reilly's store just bought a new machine to turn drums and the charge $40 per drum to turn them.
