Here is one pair of "OLDSMOBILE" stamped steel valve covers.
>Lettering is very nice...not dented in or pitted up, etc.
>Outsides have been beadblasted to bare metal and sprayed with catalyzed grey epoxy primer. Took out a couple dings and "bodyworked" those prior to spraying.
>Insides are now clean but there was some pitting/rust in both. Oil baffle left in place on one cover and cleaned and derusted the insides. Oil baffle removed on the other cover and inside beadblasted, baffle smoothed out some, baffle welded back in place, etc. Insides of both covers soaked with a acid-based metal prep product to prevent new rust.
Just a note to anyone who's looking for 'pure' covers for their car. These are technically correct for 73/74 cars only but will fit any of the 350 and 455 applications.
Patton you've done a wonderful job getting them ready for paint. I'm guessing they're left in primer so the next owner can decide on blue or gold.
