1973 was the only year for the OLDSMOBILE script on the valve covers. 350's were painted gold while the 455's were blue. These came off of a 455. The valve covers are the same and will fit the Olds 260-307-350-400-403-425-455 V8 motors.
Right on - thank you!
Ok where are you getting the information that these are 73 only? I've been in the game for a while along with my dad, uncles and everyone in between and I've seen these on stock factory cars off the showroom floor from 68 to 77, now granted not every model had them but the cutlass/442 for the most part had them from what I've seen. Now if I'm wrong then I'm wrong I have no issues admitting that but so far no one can come up with I'm wrong or any proof that these were 73 only. I've went back to the gm heritage center along with all the chassis service manuals I can find and still no luck with which years these were used. Sorry for the rant but this bugs me.
73 and 74 only....... Parts catalogs should clarify the issue provided you can find the correct year parts catalogs since they may have been superceded in the later years for replacements... Definitely not available prior to 73 model year...
They were on 1973 model year cars and carried over to 1974 until supply ran out. I've got a 73 442 with the stamped covers and a 74 HO W30 that's an April 74 built car, and it also has the stamped covers. I've also got a 74 Cutlass Supreme that's a June 74 built car, and it has plain covers.
The ones for sale look nice. They're getting harder to find dent free.

Both 350 and 455 motors were blue starting in 73.
