Oldsmobile historic items for sale
As I wind this down after many years of building, restoring and collecting I have decided to let go of some of my most valuable historic Oldsmobile parts. These parts listed here took many years to find so they are priced accordingly. I have had the pleasure of meeting Dave Mauer who was Oldsmobile's special tester who helped develop their racing sponsorship program along with Dale Smith. He was also co pilot with James Garner in the Baja 1000 in 1970. The 455 aluminum engine here was given to Frank Peterson of Colorado to run Bonneville in 1971 which it did make a few passes before being put away in his shop. I bought it from him many years ago and have left it as a display piece in my garage however I do have another aluminum 455 in a triple black 442 convert so I saw no need to build this one. I am leaving it for the next owner.
It will need to be freshened up but like the one in my 442 it is a 4 bolt main and unique head configuration while I run the stock 4 barrel intake this has the 4 webber set up all dated 1969. The block was cast in 1968 along with the heads, the intake was cast in 1965 thanks to Brian Ehlers who had access to the engineering drawings and gave me all the detail he could find about the casting numbers I provided. The water pump was removed to avoid smashing my knees on it.
That info and water pump goe along with the sale too. $40,000.00
I added one pic of the aluminum 455 in my black 442
Also listing here is the blower intake and valve covers from the rear engine of the Hurst Hairy Olds. $4000.00
Last but not least is the hook that Oldsmobile used to lift the engines at the factory, added a pic of it in use in my garage. $1500.00

The 455 runs great in the convert it has a 5 speed behind it connected to a W27. I considered building the webber motor for that car but I liked the idea of keeping it stock looking.
It gets driven although not as much as some of the cars but it has more than 1000 miles since the build. Was at SEMA last november in Legendary's booth also on the Hemmings Muscle Machine calendar for July of this year plus an article about the build of it in 2019.
There are very few of those engines out there and even fewer in cars.

Only for Oldsmobile could have built them like yours.. I always hoped one day I'd would run across a W-43 engine in someones garage, but no luck... There has to be one out there somewhere.
