I just found a used OEM SSII center cap in my garage. Part number says 416373 inside cap. All snap in retainers intact, very good shape. Olds rocket emblem in center. All original. $25.00 plus shipping to continental US.

 

Just a FYI to help your sale, if the cap is a snap in cap and not a bolt in, the cap you have is for a SSIII Wheel not a SSII...

 

Not technically correct. The only difference between a SSII and an SSIII is the color. All SSII wheels are argent silver and all SSIII wheels are body color. Snap on caps came out around 76 and by that time most wheels were body color, however the SSIII option came out in 71. So from 71 through 75 all SSIII wheels were bolt on caps, and from 76+ all SSII wheels where snap on caps.

 

Sorry, but that's not technically correct from what I have discovered... 1970 Pace Cars, 1970 Rallye, 1972 Hurst Olds are painted and listed as SSII wheels... I believe you will find a part number for a SSII wheel designated as paint to match... From my information, the SSIII designation was not used by Olds until 1974 (Possibly 73)... If someone has Oldsmobile documentation depicting otherwise I would like to see it, until then we can all continue to agree to disagree...

 

Not Correct. If you look at the 1971 Oldsmobile Dealer SPECS Book you will see that N66 is the SSII wheel and N67 is the SSIII wheel.

 

Corrections to this - 14x7 SSII and SSIII differed only in color, prior to 1970(?) the SSII wheels were 14x6 (but otherwise the same); in ~1974 there were 15" SSIII wheels with bolt on center caps, then in 1975 the 15" SSIII wheel went to snap-on center caps.

Possibly, Is that an actual Oldsmobile document?... As you may have noticed I deleted my last post (before I saw your comment) because I didn't want to distract/hijack from the OP's thread to sell his item... This is an ongoing subject which never truly seems to get resolved and comes up almost every time a SSII or SSIII cap is mentioned... Lesson learned, I will leave well enough alone...
